Το Μπόροβετς είναι το παλαιότερο χειμερινό θέρετρο της Βουλγαρίας, με ιστορία που ξεκινά το 1896. Δημιουργήθηκε στα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα ως τόπος κυνηγιού των Βούλγαρων βασιλέων και εξελίχθηκε σταδιακά σε σύγχρονο χιονοδρομικό προορισμό στις πλαγιές της οροσειράς Ρίλα.
Το θέρετρο διαθέτει ξενοδοχεία, εστιατόρια, μπαρ και δίκτυο πιστών και αναβατήρων που εξυπηρετεί διάφορα χειμερινά αθλήματα. Έχει φιλοξενήσει αγώνες του Παγκοσμίου Κυπέλλου Αλπικού Σκι το 1981 και το 1984. Διαθέτει επίσης πίστα διάθλου, την οποία η αρχική περιγραφή χαρακτηρίζει ως ιδιαίτερα υψηλού επιπέδου.
Η υποδομή περιλαμβάνει τηλεκαμπίνα, εναέριους αναβατήρες με καθίσματα, συρόμενους αναβατήρες και μικρά μέσα για αρχάριους. Η αρχική περιγραφή απαριθμεί μία εξαθέσια τηλεκαμπίνα, δύο ταχύτατους τετραθέσιους εναέριους αναβατήρες, έναν τετραθέσιο σταθερής σύνδεσης, 10 αναβατήρες επιφανείας και 9 αναβατήρες έλξης. Οι αριθμοί αυτοί προέρχονται από την υπάρχουσα περιγραφή και δεν αποτελούν σημερινή καταγραφή των εγκαταστάσεων ή της λειτουργίας τους.
Σύμφωνα με τα ίδια στοιχεία, η εξαθέσια τηλεκαμπίνα οδηγεί στο Γιαστρέμπετς, σε υψόμετρο 2.363 μέτρων. Καλύπτει υψομετρική διαφορά περίπου 1.046 μέτρων σε διαδρομή μήκους 4.827 μέτρων, με αναφερόμενη μεταφορική ικανότητα 1.200 ατόμων την ώρα. Η διαδρομή διαρκεί περίπου 20 λεπτά. Η αρχική περιγραφή αναφέρει επίσης συνολική μεταφορική ικανότητα 8.150 ατόμων την ώρα για τους αναβατήρες έλξης.
