Courchevel - base 1338 m · 1338 m

Courchevel is a collection of bases at different elevations within Les 3 Vallées. Le Praz, La Tania, Village, Moriond and Courchevel 1850 appear separately on the official map. Choosing between them changes where your day starts; it also changes which weather forecast is most relevant to your accommodation and first lift.

The default SnowReportMeteo point is at 1,338 m. Do not read its temperature as the temperature at Courchevel 1850 or on an upper slope. If the freezing level is around 1,600 m, for example, this selected point lies below it while higher bases lie above it. That comparison helps explain why a report from another part of Courchevel may describe different conditions. The freezing level itself is not an exact rain–snow boundary.

When planning a crossing towards Méribel, look at the forecast for the return hours as well as the morning. A clear start does not describe the whole day. The official piste map identifies the route and connections; the weather comparison helps you see whether the models agree about the timing of a deterioration. Check current lift operation separately before setting out.
