Απέχει 27 χλμ. από τις Σέρρες και 105 χλμ. από τη Θεσσαλονίκη. Ιδρύθηκε το 1978 από τον Ορειβατικό Σύλλογο Σερρών. Στο κέντρο διοργανώνονται αγώνες κατάβασης και αντοχής, περιφερειακά πρωταθλήματα και άλλες χιονοδρομικές διοργανώσεις.
Η βασική πίστα έχει μήκος 1.000 μέτρων και πλάτος 60 μέτρων και εξυπηρετείται από συρόμενο αναβατήρα. Η υπάρχουσα περιγραφή αναφέρει μεταφορική ικανότητα 700 ατόμων, μήκος αναβατήρα 850 μέτρων και επέκταση κατά 200 μέτρα. Για τους αρχάριους υπάρχει μικρότερος αναβατήρας μήκους 200 μέτρων. Στη βάση λειτουργούν ενοικιάσεις και καταστήματα χιονοδρομικού εξοπλισμού, καντίνες για καφέ και σνακ, γραφείο πληροφοριών και σταθμός πρώτων βοηθειών.
Στην ευρύτερη περιοχή υπάρχουν ξενοδοχεία, εστιατόρια, ταβέρνες, χώροι διασκέδασης και επιχειρήσεις αθλητικών δραστηριοτήτων.
